Delivery of a 3.8MVA 11kV metered connection at Arriva’s Palmers Green depot, including RMU installation, brick-built substation construction, HV cabling and commissioning.
The new 11kV connection further enables Arriva’s transition to electric bus operations, with all works designed and constructed in full compliance with UKPN requirements.
Completed detailed design and approval process for the 11kV installation, including a metered RMU and associated equipment.
Excavation and reinstatement of the HV cable route from the newly constructed substation to the point of connection joint bay, including trenching, duct installation and compliance with Section 50 requirements.
Provision and installation of two 11kV HV cables in a dual-duct arrangement from the point of connection to the RMU and transformer interface, including installation of marker tape and ducting.
Construction of a brick-built substation, including reinforced concrete base, metering area, earthing provisions and integration of small power and lighting infrastructure.
Supply, installation and commissioning of the 11kV metered RMU, protection systems, emergency trip facilities and associated switchgear in accordance with UKPN standards.
Execution of all HV jointing works, including intermediate straight joints and terminations, ensuring full integration with the existing network infrastructure.
Coordination with UKPN and the Aurora for point of connection works, energisation, commissioning, MPAN registration and final adoption of the network assets.
The project involved the installation of approximately 360m of dual-duct HV cables across carriageways and footways, using open-cut excavation. All works complied with NRSWA regulations and Section 50 notifications and included coordination with existing underground utilities and bridge structures.
The integration of a new brick-built substation within the depot required efficient use of available space, ensuring accessibility for future maintenance while accommodating existing infrastructure constraints.
Project delivery relied on timely approvals from UKPN and the IDNO, legal consents for adoptable assets and coordination of energisation and commissioning activities to align with programme milestones.
