National Express West Midlands proposes the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure at their Perry Barr premises, requiring an available electrical capacity of 5.0 MVA to accommodate both existing loads and anticipated EV charger demand.
Excavation and Installation of 2-Way 150 mm / 160 mm Ducting – Network Rail Bridge, Wellhead Lane. The works undertaken involved completing the final duct installation across the Network Rail bridge using 160 mm Emtelle ducts and 150 mm Twinwall ducts.
All works were carried out within a phased traffic management arrangement, consisting of two-way manned traffic lights, as required under the permit issued by the BCC Traffic Permit Office.
Activities were completed under the close personal supervision of the Network Rail Engineering Team.
Restricted Working Hours – No excavation, loading, or heavy vehicle movements during peak school times (typically 08:15–09:15 and 14:45–15:45, unless otherwise agreed with the school).
Liaison with School – Confirm term dates, bell times, and any planned events; we communicated daily with the school to ensure our work activities caused minimise disruption.
Traffic Management – Use of Chapter 8 compliant barriers, signage, and banksmen to manage pedestrian and vehicle movement.
Site Security – We ensured all excavations were securely fenced off and locked outside working hours to prevent unauthorised access.
Noise & Dust Control –Noisy operations were limited during school class times where possible; use dust suppression measures was enforced
Public Safety – Provide safe, signed pedestrian routes around the work area; ensure access for emergency services was always maintained.
